Catch a carp introduction

Before grabbing your rod and a worm and just chancing it at your local pond there are a few things you should know. This site is here to help you with thing you may forget, places not to go and why not to go there. To many times I sit beside the lake and realise I have forgotten the simplest of items, the most embarrassing would be toilet roll. I love carp fishing I find it relaxing and nothing quite beats that rush when hook a fish. Looking online when I started fishing I found myself confused at what all these “expert fisherman” were saying. Arguing on forums about what line they should use or what bait is best to catch. I find fishing simpler than that. A rod with some line, a boiley on a rig, and time on your hands is all you need. Relax and fish.

Step 1 - Location

Find out what lakes are close to you and do your research. There is no point fishing a lake that isn't having a good season or just too hard to fish. If you take on anything too big to quick it will spoil your experience. Stand next to the lake before you commit to setting up and have a good look at the water. If you don’t see a fish break the water within 5 minutes that lake would not be a good place to start. Young carp with break the water surface regularly so find a lake that you can see them and know they are in there.
